BROMPTON輪行して、初台湾サイクルショー見学です。
今回は、福岡空港からEVA AIRで桃園空港に飛びました。初EVA AIRでしたが快適でした。
I took my BROMPTON on a folding bike trip and visited the Taipei Cycle Show for the first time.
This time, I flew from Fukuoka Airport to Taoyuan Airport with EVA AIR. It was my first time flying with EVA AIR, and it was very comfortable.
福岡空港から3時間位で着きました。ただ、直前まで仕事してて、出発が夕方からになったので桃園空港に着いたのは夜中11時です…。
国際空港らしく、夜中とは思えないほどの賑わいでした。
It took about three hours to get here from Fukuoka Airport. However, since I was working right up until the last minute and had to leave in the evening, I didn’t arrive at Taoyuan Airport until around 11 p.m.
Despite the late hour, the airport was bustling with activity, just as you’d expect from an international airport.
桃園空港からは初めてだったのでとりあえずタクシーを利用して予約していたホテルに向かいます。会場までBROMPTONで向かうのである程度便利な場所に予約してあります。
台湾のタクシーはメーター上がる度に音が鳴りこれが頻繁に鳴るので支払いの心配をしたくなりますが上がる単価が日本とは比べ物にならないので大丈夫です。これは経験済みでした。
夜中にチェックイン済ませて速攻で寝ます…。
Since it was my first time arriving via Taoyuan Airport, I decided to just take a taxi to the hotel I had reserved. I’ll be heading to the venue by BROMPTON, so I chose a hotel in a relatively convenient location.
Taiwanese taxis make a sound every time the meter goes up, and since it happens quite frequently, it can make you worry about the fare. But the rate per increment is nothing compared to Japan, so it’s not a big deal. I already knew that from experience.
After checking in late at night, I crashed and went straight to sleep...
会場を目指します。
河川敷沿いのサイクリングロードを快調に飛ばします。T-LINEはお世辞抜きで良く走ります。
プレス、業者専用日なので東京とは比べ物にならないほど人は少ないです。ゆっくりと用品等を見れました。BROMPTON用のホイールで気になる物があったので詳しく話を聞きました。

I cruised smoothly along the riverside cycling path. The T-LINE rides incredibly well—no exaggeration.
Since it was a press and trade-only day, there were far fewer people compared to Tokyo. I was able to take my time browsing accessories and gear. One set of wheels for the BROMPTON caught my attention, so I asked for more details.
If I get the chance, I’d love to show you around.
夕方少し時間があったので以前から行きたかった猫熊動物園からのケーブルカーへ向かいました。
ケーブルカーに数十分揺られて(かなり長い時間)終点を目指します。ゴンドラは透明のタイプを選択しました！！
I had a bit of free time in the evening, so I headed to the Maokong Gondola, which I’d been wanting to visit for a while, starting from the Taipei Zoo.
I rode the cable car for quite a while—several tens of minutes—as it made its way to the final stop. I chose the crystal cabin with the transparent floor!
頂上から少し走った所にあるお茶屋さん？に寄って試飲させてもらいました…全く言葉が通じない所である意味新鮮です。
烏龍茶を購入して、絶品の下りを楽しみます。
下界？の街までほぼほぼ下りです。
晩御飯は以前、接待してもらって気に入ったお店に行きました。辛くてヤバイんですがどうしようもなく美味しいんです。
台湾行く度に行きたくなるほど好きになってます。
注文品が全て赤色でした……😂
痺れる辛さが身に染みます。
After reaching the top, I rode a little further and stopped by a teahouse of sorts. They kindly offered me a tasting. It was quite a unique experience—not being able to communicate at all made it feel refreshingly different in its own way.
I bought some oolong tea and then enjoyed an amazing downhill ride.
The route back down to the city was almost entirely downhill.
For dinner, I went to a restaurant I’d been treated to once before and really liked. It's seriously spicy—but insanely delicious.
I've grown to love it so much that I want to go there every time I visit Taiwan.

That numbing spiciness really hits you—in the best way.
サイクルショーで歩き回ったので空腹を満たして、夜市に出かけます。平日からか以前行った時に比べて人がかなり減ってました。
臭豆腐の匂いが苦手で近寄りたく無いのですが、同行したスタッフがチャレンジしたいらしくて遠くから見守る事にしました。店の前に行くだけでもかなりの異臭です。地元の人も食べる人と食べれない人がいるくらいです。
After walking around the cycle show all day, I grabbed some food to satisfy my hunger and then headed out to the night market. Maybe because it was a weekday, there were noticeably fewer people compared to the last time I went.
I’m not a fan of the smell of stinky tofu, so I usually stay far away from it—but one of the staff I was with wanted to try it, so I kept my distance and watched from afar. Even just standing in front of the stall, the smell is pretty intense. Even among locals, some people love it and others just can’t handle it.
スタッフは完食してるようです。感想を聞いたら初めて食べた納豆の方がキツいかもと言ってはいましたが…。
最終日はあまり時間が無いのでとりあえず街中をサイクリングしながら101を目指します。オープン前だったのでいつもの様に人だかりはありません。その後、定番？のサニーヒルズへお土産買いに走りました。
Looks like the staff member managed to finish the whole thing. When I asked for their thoughts, they said it might’ve been less intense than trying natto for the first time…
Since I didn’t have much time on the last day, I decided to cycle through the city and head toward Taipei 101. It was before opening hours, so there was none of the usual crowd. After that, I rode over to the classic souvenir spot—SunnyHills—to pick up some gifts.
帰りは台北駅からTRM利用して空港向かいました。特急と各駅停車が選べますが当然特急で向かいます。タクシー(高速道路)とは違い景色を眺めながら行くので快適でした。
今回2泊３日、強行旅でしたが充分に楽しめる事が出来ました。
台湾から宮崎に観光で来られた方にも楽しんでもらえるようにプランも練りたいと思います。
宮崎と台湾直行便は今後増えて行くようです。
ちょっと足をのばして行き来出来る日が来るのが楽しみです。
For the return trip, I took the TRM from Taipei Main Station to the airport. You can choose between the express and local trains—naturally, I went with the express. Unlike taking a taxi on the highway, you can enjoy the scenery along the way, which made for a really pleasant ride.
It was a quick 3-day, 2-night trip, but I was still able to enjoy it thoroughly.
I’d also like to come up with some plans to help visitors from Taiwan enjoy their time in Miyazaki, too.
It looks like there will be more direct flights between Miyazaki and Taiwan in the future.
I’m really looking forward to the day when traveling back and forth becomes even easier.
